I just listened to this show a few days ago. I really appreciated the bit on welcoming new teachers to your district. I’ve just started at a new school this year and they hold a Teacher Academy to get new teachers up to speed. However, it was horrible. All central office mumbo-jumbo while I (and everyone else) hadn’t seen our rooms, our curriculum, or anything yet. Hopefully your wisdom will spread to where it needs to go…though I may force your wisdom upon some in this district.
BTW, I started using Twinkle recently and find it much better than the last app I was using to post to Twitter from my phone. Thanks!
Hi Ben – Thanks for the feedback. I don’t know how to strike that balance between giving them what new teachers “have” to know (insurance, payroll, blah, blah, blah…) and what they “want” to know (where’s my room? where are my keys?).
I don’t know how districts could make it better. Or at least a little less bad…
