Listen now!
Dear Melinda and Scott,
I am the podcast listener that posted about “keeping the work/ home balance” while I was on maternity leave from my Assistant Principal position. I am just checking in, happy to report that I have found my way & enjoyed & even laughed listening to your show dedicated to the balance. Though I do not get up at 3:30am…. I very much respect your dedication.
We decided to do the home gym thing, cuts the time with the commute, but then again you podcast during that time… but I love hearing the creativity!
Scott, I wanted to mention that I am using your “system” (one of your systems) with the index cards for parent contacts and for classroom visits- really successful. My principal saw it & I think she may give it a try.
Finally I wanted to share an idea, as part of CT School Change group, called Urban School Leader Fellowship, we have been given the assignment to shadow a students for the day. With that experience we are to examine our district’s vision for students, our school outcome achievement plan in efforts to triangulate the data. I am shadowing tomorrow, and my AP colleague also in the program will shadow the next. Yes, very tough to do, but I hope that walking in a student’s shoes will remind me of the importance of the work I do with our teachers & students. Thought you’d appreciate the idea for a show.
Keep up the good work & thanks for being so open.
Tina
Oh, I love the idea of shadowing a student! We could even do that at the elementary level but how powerful that would be at any level really. Thanks so much for listening. Glad we give helpful info. However, go easy on praising Scott’s productivity tools because then I have to try them too:):):):) We are having fun so we are glad others have fun listening.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the show! And I’m happy you’ve found the index card system useful!! I like how it’s easy to organize things on the fly and it makes for simple archiving!!
I love the idea of shadowing a student!!
